Sylvan Lake Grad Session: Making Magic at Sunset
Sylvan Lake offers a beautiful mix of natural beauty and tranquility. Making it an ideal backdrop for memorable photoshoots. The evening sun cast a warm, golden glow over the area, creating a perfect setting for our Sylvan Lake grad session. The walking path with its lush greenery, and the the hidden trail among the tree, thus providing a variety of settings that added depth and charm to the photographs.
Joining me for this grad session were Ava, her mom and their close friend Sarah. Together their personalities and genuine connection made this shoot a delightfull experience. What made this session even more special was the creative addition of Ava’s boyfriend. Who was represented by a life size-sized cardboard cutout. Although he couldn’t be there in person due to his misson his presense was felt and appreciated adding a unique and personal touch to this grad session.
As the evening progressed, we concluded the session at the lakefront and the lighthouse. A familiar spot where I had previously photographed Ava’s sister, Izzy a year before for her graduation portraits. Revisiting this location with Ava and her loved ones added a sense of continuity to the session.
Furthermore It’s always an honor to work with repeat clients and to whitness their lives evolving over time. Photographing Ava and her sister, who I had perviously worked with, was a reminder of how special it is to capture different seasons of life. Seeing Ava and her mom again and capturing new memories while revisiting a beloved location was a truley rewarding experience.
This grad session at Sylvan Lake was more than just a shoot. This was also celebration of connection, creativity, and continuity. From the serene walking path and hidden trail among the to the heartfelt inclusion of a cardboard cutout and the nostalgic finale. Every single aspect contributed to a memorable and meaningful collection of photographs.
For Ava, her mom, Sarah and even her boyfriend in cutout form. These images will serve as a cherished reminder of a beautiful evening together. And for me, it was a joy to capture these moments and to continue doumenting and the evolving stories of clients I hold dear.
