I had the incredible opportunity to do a Calgary equine photo shoot with Armanda and her beautiful horses, Spot and Belle, at St. George’s Stable in Calgary. The drive out there was long, but totally worth it.
A Scenic Journey
The scenery along the way took my breath away. As I headed to the stable, I passed the iconic Spruce Meadows—a must-see destination for any horse lover. In the distance, the rugged Rocky Mountains towered over the landscape, providing the perfect backdrop for the day. The entire drive felt like a journey into a horse lover’s dream, setting the tone for an unforgettable Calgary equine photo shoot.
A Special Connection
When Armanda reached out to me for the shoot, I was beyond excited. Horses have always been a huge part of my life, and photographing such stunning animals was truly an honor. From the moment I met Spot and Belle, I could feel the deep connection Armanda shared with them. The trust and bond between them were obvious, making the opportunity to capture those special moments even more meaningful.
Belle, a stunning Thoroughbred, carried herself with grace and poise. Spot, a handsome Warmblood, exuded strength, elegance, and height, with the personality of a playful puppy! Both horses behaved impeccably throughout the session, allowing the shoot to flow effortlessly. Their responsiveness to Armanda’s cues demonstrated the incredible bond they shared.
Perfect Fall Day
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for an outdoor photo session. Crisp fall air added a touch of magic, while the vibrant colors of the leaves set a stunning backdrop. We spent a lot of time shooting outdoors, taking full advantage of the natural beauty around us during this Calgary equine photo shoot.
But we didn’t stop there. We also set up several black-background shots, which added a dramatic flair and highlighted the horses’ elegance and power in a different light.
A Dream Shoot
This day truly felt like a dream come true. The combination of beautiful horses, breathtaking scenery, and perfect weather made it unforgettable. Working with Armanda, Spot, and Belle was an experience I will always cherish.
Equine photography is one of my greatest passions, and days like this remind me why. I’ve been riding and taking lessons since I was a child and got my first horse at 15. I began competing in the hunter-jumper circuit and loved every moment of it. After several years of riding western and retiring my mare, I was thrilled to reconnect with my English roots during this shoot. Being around horses brings back so many memories and emotions—it felt incredible to reconnect with that part of myself. The horses, the people, the locations—it all came together to create something truly special. I can’t wait for my next shoot!

Armanda,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for asking me to photograph you and your beautiful horses, Spot and Belle. It was truly a pleasure working with you, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. The connection you share with your horses was so evident, and it made capturing those moments even more special.
